Why the 9-Valent Vaccine?

Several HPV vaccines are available, but Gardasil 9 offers the broadest coverage, protecting against 9 HPV types: 6, 11, 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52, and 58.

The two most dangerous types are HPV 16 and 18, which together cause nearly 70% of cervical cancers worldwide. The 9-valent vaccine covers both of these and adds five additional high-risk types (31, 33, 45, 52, 58) not covered by older vaccines, as well as types 6 and 11, which cause genital warts.

Beyond cervical cancer, the vaccine also helps reduce the risk of vaginal, vulvar, and anal cancers, as well as certain head and neck cancers caused by HPV, in both women and men.

Why Take an HPV Test Alongside Vaccination

The HPV vaccine protects against types the body has not yet been exposed to, but it cannot eliminate an infection that may already be present. An HPV test therefore plays an important role in identifying whether a person currently carries a high-risk type, before it progresses to abnormal cell changes.

The HPV test in this package covers 14 high-risk types: 16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59, 66, and 68 — the group of types most strongly associated with the development of cervical cancer.

Combining vaccination with an HPV test provides comprehensive care that addresses both future prevention and present-day risk assessment.

HPV Testing Method at PSK Clinic

PSK Clinic detects HPV using the PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) method, a genetic-level test that identifies the virus’s DNA directly. This method offers high sensitivity and specificity and can detect infection even before any cellular abnormality appears, allowing risk to be assessed earlier than with cytology-based testing alone.

Sample collection takes only a short time. The physician or staff member collects cells from the cervix or the relevant site, which are then analyzed through the PCR process to identify which of the 14 high-risk types, if any, are present.

Who Should Receive the HPV 9-Valent Vaccine

The HPV vaccine is suitable for both women and men aged 9–45, and is particularly recommended for:

  • Those who have never received an HPV vaccine
  • Those who are already sexually active (still benefit from protection against types not yet encountered)
  • Women who want to reduce their risk of cervical cancer
  • Men who want to reduce their risk of genital warts and anal cancer
  • Couples who want to look after their sexual health together

Even for those who are already sexually active, vaccination remains beneficial, as most people have not been exposed to every HPV type.

FAQs

  1. How many doses does the 19,999 THB package include? For those aged 15 and over, this price covers the complete 3-dose course, along with one free 14-type HPV test.
  2. Do I still need cervical cancer screening after vaccination? Yes. The vaccine does not protect against every HPV type and does not treat an existing infection, so routine screening should still be carried out alongside vaccination.
  3. Can men receive the HPV 9-valent vaccine? Yes. The HPV 9-valent vaccine is suitable for both women and men aged 9–45, helping to reduce the risk of genital warts, anal cancer, and certain head and neck cancers.
  4. Is it too late to vaccinate if I’m already sexually active? No. Vaccination is still beneficial, as it protects against types the body has not yet been exposed to.
  5. Is the HPV DNA test painful, and how long does it take? Sample collection takes only a short time and causes minimal discomfort. The medical team will explain each step before the test.
  6. When does this promotion end? This promotion is available until 31 December 2026 only.
